FOLAJIMI MOHAMMED – Portland Group

Folajimi Lai-Mohammed is a two-time Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikeja Constituency 1 (June 2015 to May 2023). He was the Chairman Committee on Energy and Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas from 2015 to 2023 at the Lagos State house of Assembly. During his tenure, he was

able to defend and pass the Lagos State Electric Sector Reform Bill into the Law. Upon passage of the Bill into Law, Lagos State became the Pioneering State for Off-Grid Power Generation in Nigeria. This Bill also set the building blocks for the establishment of an embedded power scheme as well as frameworks for eradicating energy theft in the state. The Lagos State Electric Sector Reform Bill also led to the establishment of new entities such as the Lagos State Electricity Board and The Lagos State Embedded Power Council.

In his capacity as the Chairman Committee on Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Folajimi Mohammed sponsored a Bill for the Establishment of Lagos State Oil and Gas Producing Regions Development Commission and for Connected Purposes. He received, considered and resolved numerous individual and ‘class’ petitions which are directly or indirectly related to the Lagos State Electricity and Power Policy with respect to service delivery to the customer’s, individual and corporate.

Prior to his assumption of office as a legislator, Hon. Folajimi Mohammed who is a trained lawyer worked at notable commercial and corporate law firms including: Chief FRA Williams, Ajumogobia & Okeke and Jackson, Etti & Edu, where he delivered exemplary expertise in corporate management and counseling.

Following his passion for legal practice, he proceeded to set up a law firm “AETAS” where he is a Partner. He then made a transition into a more traditional role, becoming the Managing Director of Knightsbridge Dredging Limited.

He is currently the Founder of Eco Green Generators Limited, Portland Gas Limited and Flash Gas Limited. He deployed his distinct entrepreneurial prowess, leadership, and accountability, thereby taking the business to admirable level in the industry before he eventually joined public sector.
